Alfred Banks Struggles With His Brother Death On “The Funeral of Orlandas Banks”

/

The first single from Bank’s The Beautiful LP out March 20th.

Mental health is one of those subjects that is rarely talked about in black communities. Most of the time we rub our thoughts off as “being too emotional” or “too soft”. What is almost never said is we need to get you help.

This is a subject that Alfred Banks is all too familiar with. The New Orleans emcee lost his brother after he took his life due to a battle with schizophrenia. With all of those thoughts and emotions Banks pushed to create what he describes as his best album to date with The Beautiful.

Set for a March 20th release, each song on the conceptual album serves as an individual chapter examining the development of schizophrenia in Alfred himself. For the projects first single Banks drops the intro, “The Funeral of Orlandas Banks”. The single picks up with Alfred Banks giving a few words at his brother’s memorial service, only to have to leave early to head to a show.
