Daily Bread drops tomorrow.
Music is emotional and for those of you who don’t agree, I challenge you to take a listen to Scotty ATL’s latest single “Bye Bye”. With an repetitive and emotional hook from Ty Dolla $ign, Scotty tells the story of a few of his fallen homeboys.
This year Scotty has lost 9 people very close to his circle and it all happened during a time where he’s seen the most success in a promising career. A week after dropping “So High” featuring Jay Dot Rain, he tries to find balance as him and Ty Dolla deliver the second single from Scotty’s upcoming project Daily Bread, set to drop tomorrow (September 21st).
Scotty shares intimate details of the story behind the song to The FADER.
“I cried when I recorded it. It was a tough song to get through and even for me to listen to now. ‘Bye Bye’ is about what happened to me when I lost 4 people in 4 weeks. It talks about exactly what happened, verbatim. You can probably hear me crying rapping that shit. It’s one of my favorite songs on the project but it’s the hardest for me to listen to – I don’t play it by myself, I only listen to it when there’s other people around.
I love working with Ty on this record b/c we share that soulfulness in music. He’s able to drive home those kinds of points b/c he’s been through some of the same things I’ve been through. You can hear it in his voice.”
Listen to “Bye Bye” below and be sure to preorder Daily Bread on iTunes.
