As a past Sunday Spotlight artist here at Da Den most of you should be acclimated to Phay, but if for some reason you’re not, get caught up to speed with one of our headliners for Wrappers Delight below.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born in Chicago. Moved to Atlanta when I was 10. I currently reside in east Atlanta. My parents are Palestinian refugees.
Q: We heard you have a project about to release titled “Mama.” Can you tell us more about your project?
A: MAMA is my debut album. My actual mother is narrating the album between cuts. She shares her wisdom, humor and opinions throughout the album. I put on for my mom. I do this for her. It’s dope because she goes in and out of Arabic while talking. Everything was recorded on my iphone candidly. Like most mothers, my mother taught me the fundamentals of life. How to love, how to forgive, how to be compassionate. A mother’s love is unrivaled.
Q: Atlanta is often referred to as the home of Trap Music. Given your sound are fans or publications ever surprised to find out you are from Atlanta?
A: I love trap music. Trap is very underrated as a sub genre in hip hop. Quality trap music isn’t easy to come across. Artists like thug, future and migos are some of my favorites. In terms of my “style”, I feel like there are trap elements in the production. I also feel like you can tell I have an Atlanta-ish accent. I’m a product of Atlanta. I wouldn’t necessarily say people are surprised I’m from Atlanta. I think people are more surprised I’m Arab lol.
