First off this is ultimately what hip-hop should be all about. The homie Dinero shot me this feature from NPR as they highlight High Tech High School’s English teacher Brian Mooney. Inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly album, the North Bergen, N.J. resident decided to use the album as a tool to teach his students about literature. After seeing the impact his changed teaching method had on the students, Mooney wrote a blog post about his findings. That post caught the attention of Kendrick’s management and they reached out about a surprise visit from Kendrick Lamar.

This is beyond dope. Salute to Brian Mooney for taking a chance on truly connecting with the youth through what they love.
