A couple of days ago I posted on my Facebook page about inspiring to one day holding a discussion with a panel of my peers about why in the black community, do we think its cool to keep up an image by spending money we don’t have, to impress people who are in the same situation. You would have thought Akon read my post after hearing what he had to say on Sway in the Morning. After opening up by a live performance of “Locked Up” and talking about his various project, Akon spoke about why he stopped wearing diamonds and how the hip-hop community has a flawed sense of understanding when it comes to wealth.
