Meet this week’s Sunday Spotlight Redcoat Da Poet.

Anyone who has followed Da Den since our existence back in 2012, know that we praise the importance of a live show. It one of the only ways to truly connect with artist. We see their awkwardness off stage and we see them turn into complete stars once they grab the microphone. The stage is where I first met this week’s Sunday Spotlight artist.

I was at the Underground Railroad Show at Apache Cafe in Atlanta early last year and though there were solid performances all around, one caught and kept my attention. Lazies meet Redcoat Da Poet.

A native of Warner Robins, Ga — a city known more for the HUGE Air Force base — emerges an emcee with dope content and on a mission to save the underground. That goal and vision was more evident on Redcoat’s latest release, Ode to the Underground.
