Why We Changed Our Logo

New logo…same vision.

Those of you who’ve been fans of Da Den long before September 3, 2015 may have noticed quite a few things different with the site, most noticeably our logo. For the past couple of weeks we have received quite a few compliments on the change, but today it came to me that we never explained why we changed our logo. Well allow me to explain.

Since launching this site back in November of 2012, our goal was to be the voice for underground hip-hop. Now I believe we have figured out a way to do that in our on way, but something was missing. We had a logoย โ€” a beautiful one I might add โ€” that said we were hip-hop and stood out, but it just didn’t feel all the way right. I wanted the people to know, when they stumbled their way to Da Den, the reason why they were there. I wanted people to know who we are and why they should follow. If we are the voice for underground hip-hop, that should be known.

So with that in mind, I started to play with photoshop and different fonts. After about 30 minutes on Dafont, I came back to a familiar font that I’ve used countless times. Now I won’t tell you what that is, but trust me that part doesn’t matter for the story. With the font down, up next was the “eye-catcher”. I knew that was the “STR8” all the way and of course we had to highlight “DEN”. After all of that I thought I was done and then I remembered “The Voice 4 Underground Hip-Hop”. This had to go somewhere, because that’s who we are. And now we have a new logo and a new vision.

I struggled with changes, because you fall in love with something and it literally breaks your heart to see it turn to something else. However, there is one thing that I know for certain, change is good and necessary to get where you want to be.

So there you have it, new logo…same vision. Str8OutDaDen.com…The Voice 4 Underground Hip-Hop.
