Fugees Live At The Apollo

I wanted to throw back to this 1996 clip of The Fugees live at The Apollo Theater for two reasons: 1) it’s dope as hell 2) yesterday I heard one of my “friends” say something I hear all too often: “hip-hop is never good live.” Yes, anyone reading this site has probably been to at least one disappointing rap show, but the idea that there’s something inherent in the genre that makes it unfit for a live performance is seriously misguided. Just watch how Wyclef, Lauryn and Pras get the crowd jumping in this video. They absolutely destroy it and they do it in the hip-hop-iest way possible. Then as a bonus peep the refugees breaking it down on Yo! MTV Raps in 1994, before The Score put them all the way on the map. Drop the rhythm selectah!
