The Bay Area’s Best Kept Secret

If you’ve never heard ‘These Things Happen’ from the bay area’s newest virtuoso, don’t worry, your not alone. He may, though, have the most successful album of 2015 you haven’t heard. In my recent memory I don’t recall ever seeing an artist who’s not a huge name in hip-hop as high on the iTunes sales list as G-eazy. Granted, “huge name in hip-hop” is a tad subjective, but what I’m trying to say is that he’s never mentioned in the same light as the artists who accompany him in his iTunes numbers. If you don’t count albums released before 2014, G-eazy comes in at #10 for hip-hop sales in 2015 right after Big Sean, Rae Sremmurd and Kevin Gates. If you want to take it a step further, he came in ahead of some legends, including Rick Ross. Lets talk about why. His proper pronunciation and elocution alone makes him unique, but his witty lyricism and smooth flow sets him apart from most. You can tell just by listening to him that he’s a funny guy but when you watch his music videos (especially “I Mean It”) you see why his fan base keeps growing. The dude is incredibly entertaining. So like I said, if you haven’t heard G-eazy’s latest release, your not alone, but if you enjoy good hip-hop, you don’t want to be in the group for much longer.
