Former Warner Music Group Recorded Music chief Lyor Cohen has linked with Google Inc. to help fund his new music-based entertainment company. This deal on the surface level will be great for the shift we are seeing in the music business. Remember when I said Goodbye To iTunes??? Well this may be the first step. The new deal will operate like an indie but will have access to the marketing and distribution infrastructure of a major. Cohen also partnered with two former Warner Music executives in the new business: Todd Moscowitz, former president of Warner Bros and Kevin Liles, the former Warner Music exec VP. Interesting deal to say the least. More details to follow soon, but you can read the full write on Billboard.
